Six Nations Round 3 Betting Tips – 25th & 26th February 2017

Two games in, the 2017 RBS Six Nations table is starting to take shape. After two narrow wins, England sit top of the 2017 RBS Six Nations table on eight points. Meanwhile, Ireland, who lost their opening match to Scotland, hit back with an emphatic win in Italy last time out to go second on six.

This weekend, the English welcome the Italians looking to make it three wins from three, whilst Ireland entertain France at the Aviva Stadium. Wales and Scotland, who both have five points, meet in Edinburgh.

  • Scotland v Wales – Scotland to Win (11/10 at Bet365)
  • Ireland v France – Ireland to Win -7 (10/11 at Betfred)
  • England v Italy – England to Win to Nil (10/1 at Betfair)

Scotland v Wales – 25th February

Wales travel to Scotland this Saturday looking to get their Six Nations tournament back on track. After an emotional rollercoaster of a match with the English last time out, which they narrowly lost, Rob Howley’s men will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways in Edinburgh.

However, they are coming up against an extremely well organised and equally talented Scotland side, who have already beaten Ireland in this year’s Six Nations. Vern Cotter’s men also put on a decent showing in Paris, eventually falling to a 22-16 defeat.

This is a match that could go either way, you only have to look at the pre-match odds to figure that out. Despite being away from home, the Dragons are the slight favourites with the bookies. However, the Scots have been very impressive so far, and we’re backing them to seal their second home win of the tournament. Bet365 are offering 11/10 for a Scotland victory.

Ireland v France – 25th February

Saturday’s late kick off comes from the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, as Joe Schmidt’s Ireland host Guy Noves’ France. Like the Scotland v Wales match, this is another one that could go either way. The home team are the clear favourites, but the French will fancy their chances of leaving with some points.

Ireland put their disappointing opening day defeat to Scotland behind them, when they battered Italy 63/10 in Rome in Week 2, scoring a superb nine converted tries in the process. As for France, after losing 19-16 at Twickenham in their opener, they secured a much-needed win over the Scots at the Stade de France.

We believe Schmidt’s Ireland will be too strong for Noves and co. in this fixture. The Irish are only 4/11 (Sky Bet) for the win, so we prefer Betfred’s decent odds of 10/11 for Ireland to win -7 on home turf.

England v Italy – 26th February

Last up, Jones’ England go head-to-head with Conor O’Shea’s Italy at Twickenham on Sunday. As expected, the English are the overwhelming favourites, with it looking like just a case of how many the home side win by. After two matches, the English are already a whopping eight points above their visitors.

Although they have had to do it the hard way, England have secured two impressive and priceless Six Nations victories so far. In a fierce battle in Wales last time out, Elliot Daly’s 75th-minute try was enough to give England a narrow victory in Cardiff. Meanwhile, Italy followed up their opening week 33-7 loss to Wales, by losing 63-10 to Ireland, both at the Stadio Olimpico.

This game is only going to go one way, but Jones will want his side to put on a professional performance and win by as many points as possible. Some bookies are offering just 1/500 for an England victory, with Italy coming in at 100/1. Because of that, the standout bet in this fixture is England to win to nil, which is available at the tempting price of 10/1 with Betfair.

The hosts will be hoping to secure a bonus point but they will also prove far too strong defensively for this poor Italian side. At 10/1, a win to nil is clearly a long shot but it’s great value and well worth a punt.
