Champions League

After a fascinating first round of Champions League fixtures, matchday two gets up and running on Tuesday. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea began their competitions with wins. Meanwhile, Liverpool were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by Sevilla, while Celtic were heavily beaten by Paris Saint-Germain at Celtic Park. What will unfold this time around in Europe’s elite competition?

APOEL v Tottenham Hotspur – 26th September

After a stunning opening round win over Borussia Dortmund, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur will head to APOEL full of confidence on Tuesday. Their away form is good and they will fancy they can get another three points on the board here for sure.

Spurs put their Wembley Stadium hoodoo behind them and stormed to a 3-1 victory over German side Dortmund in their opening Champions League matchup. Nicosia opened up Group H with a 3-0 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium against Real Madrid.

Tottenham should ease to six points out of six with a routine win in the GSP Stadium. Check out Betfair’s 5/6 for the away team to win -1 in Cyprus.

Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid – 26th September

Tuesday’s standout Champions League encounter takes place at the Signal Iduna Park as Peter Bosz’s Borussia Dortmund host Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.

After losing at Wembley in their opener, Dortmund can’t afford to fall to another defeat on Tuesday. However, Real head to Germany as the bookies’ favourites to leave with all three points.

Los Blancos have not quite been themselves so far this season, but we’re backing the Champions League holders to seal a narrow win in this one. BetVictor are offering 17/2 for Zidane’s troops to win 2-1 in Dortmund. They have struggled in La Liga but they can nick a big win here to leave Dortmund in trouble.

Real Madrid to Win 2-1 – 17/2 at BetVictor

Manchester City v Shakhtar Donetsk – 26th September

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City kicked off their CL campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win at Feyenoord. Can they seal a similar result against Shakhtar Donetsk in their second outing?

John Stones netted twice in City’s big win at De Kuip, with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus completing the scoring. Dontesk had a fine win of their own, beating Napoli 2-1 in Kharkiv.

This is a game that the Citizens should be looking to dominate at the Etihad Stadium. Take a punt on a 3-0 home win, which is available at the tempting odds of 15/2 with Betfair. City seem to have clicked over the last few weeks and we fancy them to do the business once again.

Manchester City to Win 3-0 – 15/2 at Betfair

Spartak Moscow v Liverpool – 26th September

After dropping points at home to Sevilla in their opener, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be gunning for a victory when they travel to Spartak Moscow on Tuesday.

The Reds failed to convert numerous chances against Sevilla, with the Spanish side ultimately finding a late equaliser at Anfield. Moscow, meanwhile, opened up their Champions League with a respectable 1-1 away draw with Maribor.

This could be a tricky tie for the Premier League side, although we can see them nicking the points in the Otkrytiye Arena. Coral have Liverpool to win and both teams to score nicely priced at 5/2. That’s good value given Liverpool’s brilliant attacking prowess.

Liverpool to Win and Both Teams to Score – 5/2 at Coral

Anderlecht v Celtic – 27th September

Celtic will be looking for their first points in this season’s Champions League campaign when they make the trip to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium to play Anderlecht on Wednesday.

The likes of Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe were just too good for Brendan Rodgers’ boys in Glasgow as Celtic fell to a heavy 5-0 home defeat. Anderlecht were also beaten easily by Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern Munich. These two will realistically be looking to finish third at best and make the Europa League so this is a key clash.

We believe the Bhoys, who are riding high at the top of the Scottish Premiership, are good enough to claim a draw in Belgium. BetVictor have the stalemate available at 27/10.

Draw – 27/10 at BetVictor

Atletico Madrid v Chelsea – 27th September

Antonio Conte takes his Chelsea to the Wanda Metropolitano to play Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in a tasty looking fixture on Wednesday.

The Blues opened up their campaign with an emphatic 6-0 win over Qarabag at Stamford Bridge. As for Atleti, they were held to a 0-0 draw by Roma in the Stadio Olimpico.

This match could go in any direction as either of these European giants are capable of winning it. However, we’re backing Conte’s in-form Chelsea to seal all three points in the Spanish capital. The London side are available at 13/5 at Ladbrokes to get the win and that looks a shade big to us.

Chelsea to Win – 13/5 at Ladbrokes

CSKA Moscow v Manchester United – 27th September

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United make the trip to the VEB Arena to face Viktor Goncharenko’s CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils kicked off their campaign with a routine 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford. CSKA also had a fine result, winning 2-1 away from home at Benfica. With both sides on three points, we should be in for a fascinating game in Russia.

United are joint top of the Premier League and have been firing on all cylinders of late. Therefore, they should be too strong for CSKA in this one. Take a look at Bet365’s 7/4 for the Red Devils to win to nil. Their defence looks excellent and they should have enough to nick at least a goal.

Manchester United to Win to Nil – 7/4 at Bet365

Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich – 27th September

Unai Emery’s Paris Saint-Germain welcome Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern Munich to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night for a heavyweight Champions League clash. This game could go a long way to deciding who tops the group and will be a real test of PSG’s credentials as Champions League contenders.

Both PSG and Bayern, who will be looking to far this year, opened up with easy victories last time out. Paris beat Celtic 5-0 in Glasgow, while Bayern eased to a 3-0 home win over Anderlecht in Munich.

Emery’s troops have been faultless so far, winning all nine of their league and cup matches. Being at home, they are favourites to win again on Wednesday. This could be a tight match, so back the hosts to come out on top by a narrow 1-0 margin (15/1 at BetVictor).

Europa League

Arsenal and Everton had contrasting results in their opening Europa League fixtures last time around. Ronald Koeman’s men were easily beaten 3-0 at Atalanta. The Gunners, however, came from behind to seal a comfortable 3-1 home triumph over Cologne. This Thursday, Arsene Wenger’s boys face BATE Borisov away from home, while the Toffees welcome Apollon Limassol to Goodison Park.

BATE Borisov v Arsenal – 28th September

Arsenal begin their away Europa League campaign with a tough looking trip to BATE Borisov. Still, after winning their opener on home soil, the Gunners will be targeting another three points in Belarus.

Arsene Wenger’s men came from behind to beat Cologne in a hostile atmosphere at the Emirates in their first game. Borisov were held to a 1-1 draw by Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

The Londoners head to the Borisov Arena as the bookies’ favourites, and we can’t see them slipping up on Thursday. Arsenal to win -1 is priced at 6/5 with Coral.

Arsenal to Win -1 – 6/5 at Coral

Everton v Apollon Limassol – 28th September

Everton will be looking to hit back after a shocking showing at Atalanta. This Thursday, Ronald Koeman’s side entertain Sofronis Avgousti’s Apollon Limassol.

The Toffees were second best in their opening Europa League match in Italy, finding themselves 3-0 down at the break. Things have not been going too well in the Premier League, either, although tough fixtures are something of a mitigating factor. As for Limassol, they opened up their European campaign with a solid 1-1 home draw with Lyon.

With this one taking place at Goodison Park, Everton should have too much quality for their Cypriot opponents. We like the look of Betfair’s 17/10 for the hosts to win both halves on Thursday.

Everton to Win Both Halves – 17/10 at Betfair
