There are three EFL Championship matches scheduled for midweek, with action on Tuesday and Wednesday. Midtable Blackburn Rovers entertain promotion-chasing Swansea City, while Queens Park Rangers host bottom side Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday. On Wednesday night, Barnsley and Derby County meet at Oakwell with the in-form hosts looking to keep themselves in the mix for the play-offs.

Tuesday 9th March 2021

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City

18:00, Ewood Park

Swansea, who are hopeful of edging into the top two in their quest for promotion to the Premier League, make the trip to Ewood Park this Tuesday to take on Blackburn Rovers. Steve Cooper’s Swans, who have had a superb campaign so far, would move into second place with three points in Lancashire as they have two games in hand on Watford who are just a point and a place above them.

Swansea have left it late in their last two matches, with Andre Ayew netting penalties in injury time in 2-1 wins over both Stoke City and Middlesbrough. Rovers picked up a rare victory last time out when they won 2-0 at Millwall but we fancy the Welsh outfit to prevail in this one. The away win is nicely priced at odds of 9/5, which offers good value in our eyes.

Queens Park Rangers v Wycombe Wanderers

19:00, Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium

Mark Warburton’s QPR and Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe do battle at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Tuesday evening. Rangers are in fine fettle, winning seven of their past 11 Championship games. Wycombe, however, are not and they look as though they’ll be playing their football in the thir tier next season.

Having taken one point from a possible nine, QPR returned to winning ways last weekend, picking up a solid 2-0 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate. We fancy a similar outcome from this one and we’ll be backing the R’s to win this one with a -1 goal handicap on home turf at odds of 13/8.

Wednesday 10th March 2021

Barnsley v Derby County

19:00, Oakwell

On Wednesday, Barnsely, the Championship’s form team, are in action. The Tykes entertain Wayne Rooney’s Derby, who have lost three of their last five games and who are still not completely clear of the threat of relegation. Valerien Ismael’s men are the odds-on favourites to win this one at Oakwell and we are not inclined to bet against them continuing their outstanding run of wins.

Barnsley are in stunning form and are unbeaten in their last nine Championship games. Since a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on 30th January, the South Yorkshire club have won seven games in a row. Four of those victories have come with clean sheets and we could see the same again here. Barnsley are available at odds of 2/1 to win to nil on Wednesday, which is our tip for this one.
